Social Anxiety

Achieve Openness and Connection

What is social anxiety?

Social anxiety is a condition where you experience persistent fear in social situations where you're exposed to unfamiliar people or possible scrutiny by others. Social anxiety disorders can cause symptoms such as:

  • Fear of being judged

  • Fear of being embarrassed or humiliated

  • Fear of being center of attention

  • Blushing, nervousness, rapid heartbeat, or dizziness

  • Running out of things to say in social situations

  • Feeling your mind has gone blank

  • Avoiding social situations

  • Analyzing your performance in social situations and finding flaws in interactions

  • Feeling of dread of worst possible outcomes in social situations

If you suffer from anxiety, you might also have scary physical symptoms like sweating, trembling, or accelerated heartbeat. Many suffer from anxiety disorders also feel a deep sense of loneliness and isolation.

For some sufferers, anxiety accompanies depression. Although it's normal for everyone to have some kind of anxiety occasionally, it becomes a serious problem when your anxiety is persistent enough to interfere with your daily life. It can lead to poor self-esteem, negative self-talk, lack of assertiveness, substance abuse, poor achievement at school and work, and a lack of meaningful relationships.

If your anxiety affects your health, job, relationships, or other aspects of your life negatively, you might be dealing with an anxiety disorder. Fortunately, anxiety disorders are very treatable conditions that you can overcome successfully with my help.
